Sexual Purity: Are You a Zirconia or a Diamond?
You're self worth in God is directly correlated to how you view sex. You see, you either view yourself as a cubic zirconia or a diamond. You are either are cheap imiatation of the real thing or you are the real deal. You either place little value on yourself or you believe that you're worth millions.
I promise you, you're self image is directly correlated to how you view sex before marriage. You are are either a zirconia or a diamond.
How are Zirconias and Diamonds Made?
Cubic zirconia crystals are made by melting powdered zirconium and zirconium dioxide together and heating them up to 4,982ºF. A cubic zirconia is a perfectly man-made, flawless stone that is free of inclusions. Cubic zirconia is not a diamond, though it is difficult for the naked eye to tell the difference between a cubic zirconia and a diamond.
Diamonds on the other hand, are formed deep within the earth about 100 miles or so below the surface in the upper mantle. Obviously, in that part of the earth it's very hot. There's a lot of pressure. The weight of the overlying rock bearing down, combining with the high temperature and high pressure, is what is necessary to grow diamond crystals in the earth. Because diamonds are created so deep inside the earth, it's impossible for man to drill that far down to reach them.
The way diamonds reach the surface of the earth is by volcanic erruptions throughout the course of history. The volcanic erruptions forced the diamonds upward toward the surface of the earth where they can be mined.
What's the Real Difference between Zirconia's and Diamonds?
The difference between Zirconias and Diamonds is very simple.
One is man made and the other is made by God.
The counterfeit is cheap. The real thing is costly.
Now let's apply this principle to sex, self worth, and relationships. Ask any woman what she’d rather have: a 2 carat zirconia or a 2 carat diamond? What do you think she will reply? Some women will want the zirconia but most women want the diamond.
That’s how relationships and sex is too. If you want the quick fix, the cheap way out, place little value on sex in a relationship like a zirconia. You’ll get what you pay for. It’ll look great on your hand. You might even get some gasps out of it, but in the end it has very little value. It’s a fake version of the real thing.
Here's a key principle about self worth and relationships:
What costs little, means little, what costs much, means much.
Whatever you value in life, you are willing to pay a great price for. It might be a car, a house, a rare piece of art, or even a relationship. If you value something, you will work for it–you will pay dearly for it. But if you don’t work for it, if you don’t have to pay a high price for it, you will place little worth on it.
Now think about this relates to sex. How you treat sex prior to marriage, reveals how much you value yourself. If you sleep around, you're teaching other people that you aren't valuable: you're just a zirconia. Is this really how you want people to view you? More importantly, is this how you view yourself?
God sees you as a diamond. Regardless of your past, today is a new day! Today you can choose to view yourself the way God views you: an exquisitely rare gem that He would pay the highest price to acquire.
If you are single, today you can choose to be that diamond. Everyday, you must choose to be a diamond. It's not an easy road. In fact, it might be the hardest things you've ever accomplished and it's definitely the road less traveled. But it's the road that pays the highest dividends.
If you choose the road of sexual purity, this is the message you will send to the everyone around you: I am highly prized by God. I am invaluable and my body is temple of the Holy Spirit. I am outrageously loved and I will wait for that one special mate whom God chooses to bring into my life. I will reserve my heart, my mind, my soul, and my body for true love, because I am a diamond.
